Happy May Day!

Hurray!  It’s the 1st of May!  May has always been my favorite month of the year, but perhaps I’m biased seeing as how my birthday is on the 13th.  ;)  Sadly, it’s not much of a May Day here today; it’s been sprinkling since early this morning and just downright gloomy.  But that’s okay, because it gave me the perfect excuse to wear one of my new plaid shirts!

rainy May Day OOTD

I’m wearing my new plaid button down shirt (Vans) over a long white cotton tunic (H&M) and thick black leggings (H&M).  I paired the outfit with scrunched up knee socks (Target), my green floral rain boots (??) and I accessorized with a taupe knit scarf (borrowed from my mom) and a mustard yellow knit beret (??).  (Also, sorry for the crappy exposure, it was pretty cloudy and overcast.)  I think the cold weather accessories really add to an otherwise plain rainy day outfit, what accessories would you have added to this outfit?

Mondays a la Mode – January 23

“It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring…”  I love the rain, and I will not pretend to hide it!  And now that it is finally winter in Southern California, I am taking full advantage of the deluge (okay, it’s more like an on-and-off kinda thing) and pulling out my favorite wet-weather boots!  I’ve combined a white long-sleeve tee, a blue and white pin stripe oxford tunic and my coziest red button-down sweater with my soft and comfy skinny gray jeans.  Because of the bright plaid pattern on the boots and the amount of layers, I decided to keep accessories to a minimum, simply wearing my stud earrings and pinning my hair back behind my ears.  Clean, simple and comfortable, with a splash of color and a little quirky mixing of patterns – whaddya think?  Thanks for reading :)
